Description: As we all know, all problems in computer science can be solved by another level of indirection. This is also the surest way to introduce new vulnerabilities (yes, even Kubernetes contains vulnerabilities). In this talk I will discuss the importance of knowing a deployment's threat model, defining the security domains and prioritising security patches. The objective of the talk is to reflect and question the partitioning of security domains, layers and features in a cloud deployment. Speaker: Nicolae Paladi, Senior Researcher at RISE SICS and postdoctoral researcher at Lund University. Bio: Nicolae conducts research on security in distributed systems, virtualisation, cloud and network communication infrastructure. During his PhD he worked on implementing trusted computing support for host attestation in OpenStack and on security of software network elements. He is now working on an open-source multi-cloud workload orchestrator (project-cola.eu) and security isolation for parts of Open vSwitch.
