I have a background as a developer in mobility, especially Symbian and Android. Unfortunately I happened to be good at security, especially social engineering, and ended up being appointed CSO. My CEO told me that my life was not over by being appointed CSO, just the parts that is fun. Great believer in digitalisation, compliance and sustainability. And yes they do not need to be mutually exclusive, here come the challenge and the answer is Open Source. For this purpose, and in collaboration with Intel, we have been exploring the suitability of network interfaces that embed Open vSwitch (OVS) into an on-chip FPGA. This talk is a technical deep-dive in OpenStack networking in hardware environments that enable us to move OVS control plane processing from the host CPU onto the network interface card.
