Agenda

Hej allihopa!

14:10 Demo time! Service Oriented 5G User Plane Function (UPF) with Kubernetes.
14:40 Q&A
14:55 Kaffe
15:00 Securing the most critical issues first.
15:30 Q&A
15:45 Kaffe
16:00 In the NIC of time: Enabling high-performance edge applications with
OpenStack, OVS, and SmartNICs
16:30 Q&A
16:45 Wrap up

Title: Demo time! Service Oriented 5G User Plane Function (UPF) with Kubernetes.

Description: In this demo, we transitioned our EPC services onto a container
based infrastructure using Intels Container Experience Kit to push the limits of
reality. What we'll show you in this demo is:

* A 5G dataplane components running on kubernetes that gives you
  * Generic microservice and cloud native performance.
  * E2E traffic variability (how to mimic real users for testing).
  * E2E service stability.

Speaker: Carl-Jonas Adebring Technology/Business development and Przemuslav Lal
Technology specialist within Tieto Product Development Services.

Przemyslav Lal , Technology specialist with 4+ years in cloud-native
infrastructure software, specialized in kubernetes for telco (including
dataplane acceleration, advanced network interfaces plumbing and optimization).

Title: Securing the most critical issues first.

Description: Security is all about priorities. In order for security to work you
need both people and technology. Setting up a security framework with tech is
the easy part, but how do you secure the staff? We will show why security
hardening the staff is the most urgent priority and why it is often overlooked.
How to build a security culture and why that should be a priority.

Speaker: Kim Hindart, Chief Security Officer and Data Protection Officer at City
Network Hosting AB.

Bio: I currently work as Chief Security Officer and Data Protection Officer at
City Network Hosting AB.

I am a huge Open Source fan boy. I have a background as a developer in mobility,
especially Symbian and Android. Unfortunately I happened to be good at security,
especially social engineering, and ended up being appointed CSO. My CEO told me
that my life was not over by being appointed CSO, just the parts that is fun.

Great believer in digitalisation, compliance and sustainability. And yes they do
not need to be mutually exclusive, here come the challenge and the answer is
Open Source. Open Source is 42 to our questions regarding sustainability and
compliance in the cloud.

Title: In the NIC of time: Enabling high-performance edge applications with
OpenStack, OVS, and SmartNICs

Description: Telco service providers request Ericsson to support applications
running on OpenStack with extremely high throughput and low latency for edge
computing. For this purpose, and in collaboration with Intel, we have been
exploring the suitability of network interfaces that embed Open vSwitch (OVS)
into an on-chip FPGA. This talk is a technical deep-dive in OpenStack networking
in hardware environments that enable us to move OVS control plane processing
from the host CPU onto the network interface card.

Speaker: Elena Crenguta Lindqvist, Cloud System Manager in Systems and
Technology at Ericsson

Bio: 2001 I got my first job as a sysadmin. Two ISPs later, I started working
for Ericsson. I have been a professional troubleshooter for most of my career,
working with voice/multimedia over IP for almost a decade. In 2015, I discovered
OpenStack and decided I had found my calling. Since then, I have focused on
deploying, integrating, and supporting OpenStack platforms.
